Hiking in Europe

Probably you've missed the train, but you still have the opportunity to cross Europe walking. Not that much? Well, maybe you're right, but at least there are some good alpine trekking adventures you can get involved in, either if it is by yourself or with an adventure travel company. Let's take a look at a possible route you may do when hiking in Europe

The good thing about this trekking is that it combines the French Alps, the Swiss Alps and the Italian ones, so you will get a taste from each region, also getting to know some different lifestyles in a small limited single region. That makes the whole experience more cultural apart from the adventurous part of it.

A good option when hiking in Europe would be to start in Geneva and take a bus from there to Les Praz in Chamonix Valley. The Les Praz zone if ull of day walks and short trekking routes that you can use in order to prepare for longer and harder adventures. That could be done during one day. After this, a good idea is to move to the Tour of Mont Blanc circuit. It is a long itinerary in some cases through the snow, and from my point of view 5 days would be required to complete it, let's say from day 3 to day 7.

To relax, on the 8th day of hiking in Europe you could take a bus to Aosta and just enjoy the afternoon with some short walks around. On the next day, take a bus to Rieul and cross to Randa, in the Zermatt zone. This crossing is done in one part by cable car and later by foot. This is your opportunity to spend the next day visiting and taking pictures of the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa, some of the most impressive mountain structures you can find in Europe.

From there, you could take a train to Kanderstegg on the next day and spend the afternoon by the place. From days 12 to 14 of your hiking in Europe, a good idea then is to reach the region called Bernese Oberland and do some hiking to get the best views of Jungfrau and Eiger. The following day can be used to return by train to Geneva or whichever airport is best for you to come back home.

You can do all this by yourself or you can get involved in a group travel adventure that some agencies organize. It is true that normally I don't recommend agencies to organize your trips as they charge a lot more, but in the occasion of adventure travel I kindly make an exception with them: their support along the trip can be very much needed, and so it justifies the extra amount of price, for example by providing support vehicles that will carry the main part of your luggage while you do your trekking. In this way you will only need to carry your sleeping back when no other kind of accommodation is available. Possibly the only remaining thing to say is that after hiking in Europe using a good free travel certificate for a quality hotel stay with more than 80% discount could be an option to get relaxed.

To relax after your trip, the best you can do it to grab a free travel certificate for a more luxurious accommodation at Free Travel Certificates
