Most affiliate marketers struggle to find the right product to market. They just blunder into the ClickBank market place and choose a random product and hope for the best. Once they have spent a small fortune on advertising the product they then figure out that it probably wasn't the best choice that they had made.
Choosing a product to market has often been said to be one of the most difficult tasks an affiliate marketer can do. Well, that maybe true, but there are certainly different techniques that can be used to make the job easier to do.
The first thing that you must take a look at is what category of product would you most feel comfortable marketing. Take a look through the list of categories that are available, when you find one that you are comfortable with, in other words one that you have the most knowledge about, select it and bring up the relevant products.
Once you have your list of products, it's time to use a simple process that I developed to select, what I consider to be, the best product to market. Simply use the Sort By option and select High Gravity. The list will re-sort itself to the products with the highest gravity being placed at the top of the list.
The gravity of a product is basically how many other affiliate marketers are currently marketing and making sales of the product. The higher the number the more marketers are selling. So, it's best to look for a number that is high but not too high that the market is saturated and you are looking a fierce competition. I always look for a number between 50 and 120, anything higher than this then the competition will be fierce and the chance of making any profit from the item is low.
Once I have found a range of products with a gravity of between 50 and 120, I then take a look at the $/sale numbers for each of the products. I only promote items that are about the $20 mark. If you are going to be using PPC campaigns to promote the product this will be important to you.
Once I have found a product that matches both of my criteria, I then do some research into it by reading reviews, etc. Just do search on Google about it. If you find good reviews and you are 100% happy with the product. Buy it! I can't stress how important this is. Always buy the product so that you have first hand knowledge of how it works and what it is all about! You need to learn the product inside out if you are going to be able to sell it effectively. Remember, laying out a small investment into the product and learning it properly your return will be higher!
To summarise, don't select the first product you come to, select a product with a high enough but not too high gravity, select something above the $20 mark and always purchase and test the product yourself.
By following these simple tips, you should start selecting products that will bring you a good profit return.
